Bunk Heaters...

More specifically, the wabasto heater that draws fuel from the main tanks. It will run for about 5 minutes, then cut off like i turned the power off. Does the same thing if the engine is running, so i know it isnt a problem with low volts. Don't really want to take the truck into the shop, cause depending on where i go, it will be 'in line' for most of the day.

anyone lend any help with this issue? maybe you have the same heater type, with a possible solution.....

Does your Wabasto switch flicker after it shuts down?

If so, it probably means your in or out (or both) air filters need to be cleaned. There should be a Wabasto manual with your owner's manual but, if not, you can figure it out on their website.

On the thermostat, does the light flash out a code?

Affirmative. If I renumber correctly, 3 shorts and a long is clogged filters.

Look for clogged air intake filter, or clogged fuel filter. :)

2nd that one - it's usually the airflow. It could be other things, but with the code, if you look in the manual, it'll tell what to check.

there isnt a light on any switch. heck, i dont even have a 'wabasto' switch. i just turn the control panel in the bunk area to heat, configure it to 'on', and poof...it works. there IS a light inline with some wiring in the compartment where the heater is, that does flash.

ok.,...update....it flashes 10 slow...then 5 fast...

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...0/icon_eek.gif ... that's not good!
The countdown to detonation has started.
You don't have much time now.
Look for a wiring harness, and find the red and the blue wire.
You have to cut one of those wires. Good Luck!

As it turns out, the slow pulses of 10, then 5 fast....the 5 are just to seperate the messages. i was told from the guy at Wabasto tech help, 10 means the unit is overheating. I took apart the hose leading in from the intake port in the bulkhead to the intake port itself on the unit, and found nothing cloging it. On the outside of the bulkhead between the gap of the cabnet and the bunk itself, there was a wrapper no bigger than the size of a stick of gum, blocking the unit. cleared that up, and it worked like a charm.
