Blood Pressure Requirements
 

Does anyone know what the typical blood pressure requirements are for most companies at orientation. I take bp meds have no side effects or issues and typically run around 130/80 pulse of around 78. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

So...what are you without the meds?? Or are those (130/80) the numbers ?

123 / 78 normally, for me. With a pretty girl taking them, using one of them small cuffs..........143 / 85! :lol: :lol: :lol: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Same here. My blood pressure fluctuates when I get it checked. Just depends on what the nurse looks like. "Do you have high blood pressure?" "I probably do at the moment." :p :rofl:

The 130/80 is on meds but at times it can run up to 150/90 pulse can range to 85-90 sometimes. I am just concerned about what a company deems acceptable for hire.

Where i used to work they so as long as you can pass some kind of check you are ok

so if you got a 2 year deal or a 3 month deal..you are good to go either way

(for me its 100/66 or so..

but i dont faint or anything)

I bet it is exactly the same with women! If they are getting checked by what they consider a "Stud-Muffin", you can just bet the ole heart beats a bit faster, and the blood pressure climbs a few knotches!!! :p

This year is was double wammy! Not only was the nurse with the cuff pretty....but she used the smallest cup she had first....then once we got past that....I ended up with a female Doc that was even prettier than the nurse! :eek1:

Blood pressure (BP). If a driver has hypertension and/or is being medicated for hypertension, he or she should be recertified more frequently. An individual diagnosed with Stage 1 hypertension (BP is 140/90–159/99) may be certified for one year. At recertification, an individual with a BP equal to or less than 140/90 may be certified for one year; however, if his or her BP is greater than 140/90 but less than 160/100, a one-time certificate for 3 months can be issued. An individual diagnosed with Stage 2 (BP is 160/100-179/109) should be treated and a one-time certificate for 3-month certification can be issued. Once the driver has reduced his or her BP to equal to or less than 140/90, he or she may be recertified annually thereafter. An individual diagnosed with Stage 3 hypertension (BP equal to or greater than 180/110) should not be certified until his or her BP is reduced to 140/90 or less, and may be recertified every 6 months.

Thanks for the info folks. I have a 1 year card now and I head to orientation this weekend in Chatanooga TN so my concern is will they find my bp acceptable. Living in FL it was real tough to even get this oppurtunity and I want to hunker down and get a year in.I have nonother issues my crimanal record is clean and same with my drving record so the bp is my only concern.
