Basically, socialism is where the government takes over businesses or segments of it. Essentially, when you work for certain companies that are partly or completely owned by the government it is socialism. Socialism takes away the free market. Socialism takes away the incentive to produce and to do for oneself. When this government took an ownership position in U.S. automakers and banks then it changed the dynamic from a free market to socialism. I am not saying that this country is now a socialistic country, but it is heading very rapidly in that direction.
