Stevens Transport or Werner Enterprises

Hey Fellas

I am half way through my Road Master Training, and I have received two job offers. One is from Stevens Transport and the other is from Werner Enterprises. I have spoken to both recruiters, and of all the questions that I asked, they both answered approximately the same way.
Can any of you who have worked for either of these companies give some input. There are two other companies that I applied to, and they are Covenant Transport and Swift. As long as I can pay my bills and gain some good driving experience, I will be OK with that. Once I get the experience, I know doors will open up. However, I would like to start off the best way possible. No Rumors! Please.
Thanks for any replies.

Well i hav not worked for either companies but i would choose stevens transport just because they run reefers and not a lot of dry van like werner.

Stevens or Werner

Sidewinderf16,
"I have received two job offers." You've received two pre-hires. Your job offer won't happen until after you've completed the OTR training phase with either. You may want to consider that Werner has three divisions, dry van, flat, and temp controlled. Stevens has only temp controlled. If you don't like pulling reefers, with Werner you could change division and not leave the company. Of the two, Stevens is the worst for hometime. BOL

Thank you both. I am leaning towards Werner, but I wanted some input. Thanks!!!

I've never considered pulling a reefer. The few times I had to go to grocery warehouses pulling dry-van was more than enough to keep me steered clear of doing it on a regular basis like you will in a reefer.

I am willing to do it all. I can't be picky starting out, especially during this slow down. Maybe after I get some years under my belt will I be able to agree.
Thanks for the input.

If i had to choose between the two of them, I would probably choose Stevens. I actually before signing on with SNI had considered them. I went and met with the recruiter, filled out all the paperwork, and 20 minutes later he said can you start school tomorrow? I said no, and left, but that was 2 yeara ago, things have changed, I haven't seen many advertisments from them here lately. They will by their own admission, keep you out for weeks at a time, you will probably get more miles with them.

3 years ago i was trying to make the same decision, Werner vs. Stevens, i chose Werner basically so i didnt hafta go all the way to texas for orientation. Werner has a terminal in Indy so i was just able to stay at home for orientation and to wait for a trainer.

I agree. I have decided to go with Werner. I am scheduled for Orientation on May 20th. It will last for 6 to 8 weeks, and then they will transfer me to Ohio.
I hope everything goes well.

Your first mistake was not listing where you are from....

Your second sin was throwing yourself under the bus too quick...... But, of the two.... Werner is the less of two evils.....

If you just retired from the AF.....go back to college. If you didn't, go back to college.....
