Ultimately it is really a generational thing. The generation before the newest will never accept what has come out during the new generation. Music is a great example, kids today listen to music that I could never get into. Now to them I am sure its great and wonderful and blah blah blah, but to me there hasn't been a good song made in nearly 10 years! (With very few exceptions).
I managed to grow up just on the beginning edge of the computer explosion. Very few people in my family even own one, and those that do barely know how to use it. They don't look at it like I do either. My mother thinks that her computer time is nothing more then an extra toy for entertainment. Hell I look at my computer as almost an extension of my life. Very few new technologies get universal acceptance by all generations. Ironically one of the few techs that managed to beat the generation barrier was CD's and DVD's, especially considering that music is one of the most generational things in existence. Cell phones too. But give it some deep thought, those of you that are older, and tend not to care much about newer things, think about the things you liked growing up, and what your parents would of thought about those things, also think about what your own kids would think of the things you used to like at their age! This post makes me feel old now, haha. |
What's a CD?
There hasn't been any MUSIC recorded since they quit using VINYL! On the other hand.... I don't know how I ever lived without a debit card! :eek1: |

Hey buggies are technology too! You must ride just the horse, bareback
Though "science" (or better mathematics) can define the wheel, they had no part in the invention of it. I suspect it was some UBL type who noticed how easily and quickly a ROUND rock rolled down a hill just before it squashed him! ;) The wheel (and buggies and wagons) were around when fields were plowed by shares drawn by a horse. It was, I believe, the original STEAM engine (and later the combustible engine) that sparked the dawn of the age of technology. That's just my opinion, though. I'm sure the Rev will be along soon to "skool" me otherwise. |
What's vinyl?

Where's my AARP application?? I can get 5 bucks off a round of golf with that! Ever heard of blacklights? How about those little "pellets" that you put between a bulb and the socket to make them strobe? |
Tell us again grandpa, Was it scary riding that dinosaur to the solid rock school house with the other Flintstone children? LOL I saw a blacklight one time.....In a MUSEUM!!!
|
I have no comment on my experiences with blacklights and stobe lights ;)

Let me guess. Was there also some weed and a Jimmy Hendrix or Bob Marley poster involved?
