Thinking of taking the CDL plunge
My Story: my company is currently laying off many people and my department is expected to be elminated. I have been considering a career change for sometime as this work is not very fulfilling to me. I am considering going to my local community college for my CDL training (Fort Scott Kansas). I have read the board here and found it very educating. I understand business is slow (what business isn't?) but I currently have few expenses (I have been expecting this layoff for sometime). My question is this: Could the slow down be good for a new driver? With less loads to haul initially, do you think this would help me perfect my skills by focusing more on learing my craft? I understand money may be tight the first year (because of the slowdown) but if this allows me to become a better driver in the long run I am thinking it might be worth it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
