Off to School Monday. Tips????

I start feeder (CDL) school on Monday with UPS. Thought I had a spot nailed down a year ago, but long story short I didn't get it. However, I did win feeder bid in OCT. and now I'm heading to feeder school on Monday. So from all of you that have been driving for years I would love to get any tips from you.

I HATE YOU :p

Your going to have one of the best trucking jobs out there. Don't worry I'm sure UPS will teach you everything they want you to know.

:bigthumbsup:Congrats.

Tips? Just be patient and take your time. I'm sure from your city route you already know how rushing leads to mistakes that cost even more time. Relax, you got an easy job now, and you earned it!

don't pass the fedex ground trucks..even uphill. that just pisses us off and whem we get motivated again we will spin you around in the middle of the road. lol, good job.

I'd never make it as a Buster Brown driver...... far too regimented for me to be able to function!!

Still, I admire those who CAN do it!!

Good'onya!! Brown67!! BOL2U!!

Keep your eyes on the road...avoid making eye contact with the trainer....don't look in the mirror as you back your coupled sets around the corner.

:lol2::lol2::lol2: :thumbsup:

I agree...I'm not good with "order"...
I like my freedom, but no doubt you got a good job.
Congrats.
You'll figure it out.

I guess I'm use to all the order and structure of UPS by now. I've been with them in some form since 1990. Besides for what they pay; I can put up with it.

Well, I will say what I say to all my students ( I have close to 500 comercial students under my belt by now)

Listen

Do your homework

Ask questions

You are NOT driving your car, it is as different as a car as a helicopter is from an airplane... and it is a really, really BIG helicopter

GOAL... you will hear what it is there.

Patience... you wont get it on the first day... it takes time.

You can go down any hill a thousand times to slow, but only once to fast.

Don't hurt the truck

Don't spill the instructors coffee

Enjoy it, you are only going to do this once.

If you train hard, the road test becomes easy.

If you are going to cry because of stress or your upset, cry like a man, not like a girly man. :)
