A word to the wise....
 

First, if you are hauling a "placarded" load....make sure your equipment, paperwork and logs are in very good order. I was recently pulled in and DOT's. (Level 1) at the Floristell Scale in MO. Got my sticker! Seems there is a bit of a push to inspect Hazmat loads here lately....several of our other drivers have been DOT'd when placarded.

Second.... If you are running this time of year, be advised that the various different counties and municipalities in GA are working the interstates big time. Gwinnett County to the east of Atlanta has some DOT qualified people out with nifty new pickup trucks.... and they are marked "Commercial Vehicle Enforcement"....also in the last couple of days I have seen "wolf-packs" of LEO's working the big road... Be very careful around the construction zones.

Keep in mind...with the downturn in the economy...loss of sales tax revenues, etc, is producing budget shortfalls for government agencies....don't be a donor!

Oh, lest anyone think that the LEO's were "preying" on trucks..... not in the least. I saw 14 stopped vehicles on I-75....and only one of them was a truck.

Gwinnett County has had a strong presence around that area for a number of years. It seems to run in cycles. Cobb County, Georgia also has a stong presence just north of Atlanta on I-75. I see more of them in several areas. They spend $40,000 on a vehicle that probably produces 10 times that amount in revenue. I would keep my eyes open when anywhere around Atlanta.

DOT boys are hammering trucks hard around the Fredericksburg, VA area. State and local have been doing inspections for the last week and a half and they have been nailing just about every truck they pull with a shutdown.

You guys are making me paranoid.....like two or three times more than I already am

If your truck is in proper working order and your logs and paperwork are all good, then you got nothing to worry about, no reason to be paranoid.

With me it is mostly the loss of time. I keep things up to date.

I park my truck in a shared lot, Who do I share it with? The county shariff and there CMV enforcement vans!
They have yet to inspect me, but many times they've watched while I pretrip, I make sure to do a good one every day!

I don't know, I've heard when they train the DOT guys, they'll have a brand new truck sitting there, and they tell the trainees to try and find out anything and everything wrong with the truck. If a brand new truck can't pass the inspection fully, it's hopeless! (That's just what I've heard, don't know if it's true).
