1st year report

I completed my 1st year of truck driving on 10/31/08. Here's a breakdown:

1. No accidents.

2. 1 ticket (5/12/08, Speeding, 70/60) :pissedoff:

3. A couple minor backing incidents. :eek2:

4. Changed companies once. Started with Baylor Trucking 10/28/07, been with my current company since 1/23/08.

5. YTD gross earnings with my current company $43K.

Overall, I am happy with the decision I made to become a truck driver. I like my job and make a decent living.

Impossible. 3 out of 4 trucking experts say you only make 30k your first year.:bs:

well if you have another year like that with another ticket and a couple of more accidents, you'll be changing tires

Unlike many drivers I learn from my mistakes. I roll the speed limit these days. Besides, I get paid by the hour, what incentive do I have to speed?

As for the backing incidents what can I say. You live and learn. They each caused very little or no damage. I always GOAL now.

Right. I just looked at my last paystub from 10/31 and it is closer to $44K and that is from a starting date of 1/23/08. I work a lot of hours but I feel lucky to have landed this gig.

The only thing that sucks is that when you work harder and longer Uncle Sam wants a bigger chunk of your check. :pissedoff:

It's spelled right. Yes, I'm still nocturnal, and running linehaul.
