I need help finding a driving job

I have no tickets the past 15 years, no accidents, and have a great driving record.

I've driven busses that range from 37 feet long to 41 feet long. Will a company look at this as better experience for a new hire than just someone who drives a normal car?

How can I upgrade from a class B to a class A? Do I have to take a class, or can I study on my own and take the test since I already have the class B?

Is there any company that will hire me and test me at their location for a class A?

If there is no cheap way to get a class A license, are there any decent paying jobs for a class B?

Help us out a little here B.

Where do you live?

What type of Class A do you want to drive?

I live in the Chicago area. I am willing to relocate for a good paying job.

I am willing to drive anything. I think it would be fun to drive long routes and see America from the road. I don't mind being on the road for many days in a row.

I forgot to add I'm on good terms with my current company. The reason I want to swicth is because I'm not getting paid very well right now.

That's what I'm talkin about!!

Chicago

Willing and wanting to run the US. This should be an easy one. You are exactly what OTR recruiters/companies are looking for. The Chicago address just jumped you 100 points above the other applications.

Regarding training. Are you wanting company paid, or are you wanting to pay for CDLA school out of pocket?

I want the company to pay for training. I already have a class B so it shouldn't be much more to pass for a class A CDL.

OK, we're at the following:

1. You reside in Chicagoland.

2. Currently have a Class B CDL and want to upgrade to A CDL mostly because of pay issues.

3. You want to/and are willing to run 48 state OTR trucking.

4. You have clean criminal and DMV history and are over 23 years of age.

5. You are looking for the right company that will pay for your training.

Is all of the above correct?

Yes to all the above. I am willing to drive anywhere but would like to find a route that goes to the south, midwest, or west USA.

classB 09-14-2008 07:51 PM

If the pay is good I'll drive anywhere no matter how bad the weather or traffic.

belpre122 09-14-2008 07:52 PM

OK, have you posted your resume on CAD yet? There are so many different directions that you can go at this point.

Adding also, if anyone from the Chicagoland area is aware of local company training situations, please hop on board here!
