Are there any companies that will hire a guy with 2 DWI's?

I recently graduated from a driving school and have a class A license. Now, I'm looking for a job.

Problem is that I've made some mistakes in the past and I have two DIW's on my record. One is eight years old; the other is seven. All of that was in another life and I no longer drink.

Does anyone know of any companies that will hire a recent grad with a record like mine? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I hope not. Sadly, there probably is.

Build a time machine, go back in time and actually do some research before you fork out money for driving school, because in today's economy, people with records cleaner than yours are having trouble finding driving jobs.

Thanks Rev. I can tell by your reply that you're a really compassionate guy. Your help is really appreciated.

Would you rather I sugarcoat it?

The truth is that the industry has too many drivers right now, and companies have gotten a lot more picky on who they hire. As a 2 time offender, you have 2 HUGE strikes against you. Some research before you went to school would have told you this.

You'll find no love here based on those 2 DWI's.

No, I wouldn't rather you sugarcoat it. However, your response of "I hope not" was nothing short of a personal slam, hence my comment about how compassionate you obviously are.

You sound like a guy who takes great delight in, and derives great joy from the difficulties of others. In other words, you sound like a WONDERFUL human being and I would love to have you as a neighbor!!

BTW, just curious, but, are you a real Rev.? If so, you obviously got your ordination from one of those free on-line places that just hand them out to anybody.

P.S. I can't tell you how sorry I am about your truck burning up and I certainly hope it never happens to you again.

Have a nice day Rev.

you may not like it and THE REV NEVER sugar-coats anything. but the fact is that in this industry you will find drivers that will forgive this or that but you will be very hard pressed to fine anyone that will cut you any slack for one DWL let alone two..! about the only thing worse would be DRUGS

sorry but thats the facts.

Anybody that will hire you with 2 DWI's probably isn't worth working for.

And that's fine by me. I was merely stating the obvious about the Rev. and his incapacity for compassion.

Also, I'm not asking anyone for any slack. I know I made mistakes in the past. I also know that my MVR is spotless for the last seven years.

What I asked was simple: Does anyone know of any companies that will hire a guy like me....and right off the bat, the good Rev. responds with a personal slam. What a stand-up guy!! Guess that it's not in him and others to recognize that someone has repented of their past ways.

I agree....people should be ostracized, criticized, condemned, cajoled and shunned FOREVER for things they've done in the past.

An appropriate answer to my original question would have been "No". Or, simply no answer.

But, I AM glad that I was able to furnish the good Rev. with a way to get his rocks off by offering him the opportunity to throw stones at somebody. It's probably the only way he has to "get off". Glad to have helped him out.

Maybe but not likely. You are certainly not going to be able to goto a first rate company until several more years have passed. I think I heard the magic number was 10 years but don't quote me on that.

The one thing you MUST do is be honest with everyone. Tell them right up front about your record. Do not wait until you invest money and time getting to Orientation to only receive a boot out the door.

The rev is spot on when he says there is a dearth of jobs right now and carriers can pick and choose their drivers. This will only complicate your search.

What you need to do is go to a truck stop and get one of the free little magazine with all of the job advertisements. Call all of the companies, talk to a recruiter about your record and see what they say.

Or you could go through your phone book and see if there are any mom and pop outfits that might give you a chance. I'd say your best bet would be an outlaw reefer outfit or something.
