Good points everyone...The yard trucking thing looks interesting, but I'd imagine those things with no rear suspension must be real hard on the drivers after awhile.

Where I work at, we have fresh asphalt.. nice and smooth. If you're operating on a beat up lot, or on dirt, then I suppose it could become an issue, but, personally, I've taken more of a beating in a single day of dump truck driving than I have in a month of yard spotting.
As for the doubles, it takes some getting used to, but it's just another thing once you've got it down. Like I said before, I have no obligation to assemble the doubles - I only have to bring the con gear and trailers to the outbound lot. That will vary between employers. I do have to break them down when we receive them, but that's not so bad.

Not sure where you are in columbus or what your abilities are but you might want to try oberfields, ccl, there are some others where you unload but its with a moffett so its not bad. If you want to do the dump truck thing you might want to check out henderson in delaware. Anymore questions feel free to ask im also in cbus

Talk to the "otr" companies. You dont necessarily need a local job, even those who dont unload are in and out of their truck 20 times a day etc.. they work their butts off and your back may not handle it.

Look for a Dedicated run. Talk to smaller companies. I run dedicated and love it. If one of my normal runs drops off they get me something similar so im home the same time etc. When you do this though dont listen to a recruiter.. they're lying scumbags. Talk to someone who matters in the company. The guy who books loads or "your" dispatcher or whatever and make it clear that the minute they say 'well that load is gone now we'll have to have u do x til we find ...blablabla" you're turning in the truck that day. Be serious about it because the way they function is to push you just a tiny bit harder each time til you're their b*tch.
