Fuel Economy

An interesting little side bar on fuel economy and how others are handling it. Last load I hauled a Abrams M1A1 out to Herlong Ca. Once we had it loaded they brought up a fuel tanker and pumped off the fuel that was onbord. I made the comment I hadn't seen that before, "Fire hazard ?" they said "No, let them fill it off their base fuel allotment". Yesterday I loaded a new Cat D8, after we were done loading the guy said "are you going to need to move it ? Said didn't know till I got to a scale. He said "well we will leave a couple of gallons in just in case" and they pumped out less than two 5 gallon cans and carted it off.
