OTC Medications?
Is there a list somewhere of restricted over-the-counter medications that we're not allowed to take when operating a Commercial Vehicle? I've tried searching google, but I'm not finding anything.
I only ask this because I'm currently suffering with Bronchitis - I'm taking the antibiotic azithromycin, but my Dr. suggested that I take Robitussin or something like that to help with the cough associated with my illness - this cough sucks, but I otherwise feel pretty close to normal - I'd be afaraid to take any OTC med's unless I'm 100% sure I can - but additionally I'd like to know this for future reference too. Thanks in advance! --Dave. |
No there is not any official list.
You just want to avoid any medications that make you drowsy, and since medications can effect everyone differently you have to find what you can take that won't effect you negatively. |
OTC
"the cough" Have you tried Mucinex to break up the crud in your lungs so they'll clear? BOL
|
I had bronchitis for about 4 months this past winter. The Mucinex will make you cough up a lot of phlegm at first, before you start to clear out. My doctor's nurse also told me to take a decongestant to dry out the nasal drip.
I feel your pain. I would cough for an hour straight at times. I even got to the point where I was having sharp chest pains every time I coughed or sneezed. |

If memory serves me right, one of the topics answers your question. |
awesome guys!
I would've thought about searching here, but this illness combined with alergies has my brain being mush - LOL --Dave. |
Try Bronkaid. Worked for me. They keep it behind the counter, but you dont need a prescription. Just an I.D. to get it.
