Yes I just got out on my own,and I'm using the map but still getting lost and I drive alot in Ohio and if you get lost in the farmer area it takes forever to get turned around. Anyways can I get some suggestions on which GPS and or Laptop program I should get?

P.S I know GPS aren't a cure all

thanks

I use Street Atlas 2008 from Delorme! It can be a trick learning how to make it work for truck use, but once you figure it out, it is pretty good. There are others out there, but few with Dedicated truck! You still need to use your truckers atlas, to verify the GPS is not sending you on a non-truck route.

use a map USE A MAP after you can use a map then and only then use a gps if all you can use is a gps and not a map what would you do if you computer died...? we have ms s&t 2007 and delorme 2008 plus, s&t has a better base map but delorme had a better display and is faster to route copilot has truck routing but we don't like the way it is setup (it's on the company gps)and i don't feel it is worth $200

I also have Delorme, and It does not prevent me from getting lost. Well perhaps it does because I always know where I am even if I shouldn't be there. It does help me get unlost easier after checking the atlas for low clearances and restrictions. It is a great tool, but sometimes it is like having a hammer when you want a pair of vice grips.

There's a program Copilot 9 for Trucks. I just ordered one. I have been out for 3 months on my own and have been using a map to get in the city where I'm going. I have been correting alot of our travel orders that don't have the correct directions from the highway to the customer. Some places I have gone to don't have street signs and the worst I have gotten into is a weighted bridge sign near the bridge, not at the prior turn but at the bridge, kind of like the no truck sign. It's after you make the turn. Why the hell are they like that. Anyway I'll let you know how I make out. Should be in tomorrow.
