pardon my ignorance, but i've heard this term a few times and would like to know what it means.

Whats a chicken coop??

In the western states it could be a POE (Port of Entry) too. In other states in can include an agricultural inspection and fuel check station. BOL

If a chicken coop has four doors is it called a chicken sedan?

Here is the real question....

Why is a DOT Inspection Station called a "Chicken Coop"??

Due to the Chicken Haulers going through there with all their marker lights all down the trailer like a christmas tree. When one goes out=$ for the bears :wink:

and a bug check is an agricultural check station. when rolling into a coop, its best to follow a bull hauler in, some smelly reason DOT dosen't like to stop them (and you). :?

Because they keep you couped up like a chicken till they're good & ready to let ya go. I've never had an inspection last no less than an hour..
