Most LTL carriers have "Training programs". The smaller companies will take you in too and you'll learn as you go.

Good luck on the Fleet Manager job.. I did that for 20 years. Boy have times changed from the "good ole days".. The companies today are so money hungry and seem to forget that a driver is a person, not a machine; therefore, when you stand up to the company for your driver, you are deemed a "troublemaker".. I had to get out of the business for my own sanity. I was not willing to screw over a driver to make a buck -

I would'nt limit my management job search to just the big otr companies. Other transportation companies like Penske, Ryder, U-Haul, also have management training programs. Other companies that have large fleets of vehicles like UPS, Coke, Pepsi, Miller Lite, Ashley Furniture, Safeway Food, etc. all need someone to manage their fleet of vehicles.

Depending on where you live you might be able to get a job at The Department of Transportation. Or your local state or county transportation agency.

BOL to you in your search.
