Which should I go with boyd brothers start at .35 mile at 6 months go to .38 mile at 1 year .40 I live in columbus OH they said I would be home every weekend for 36 hours or Homerun inc out of dayton OH also home weekends start at 24%of load at 6 months 28% of load he told me I would gross 500.00wk and 750.00 to 1000. after 6 months. I think I would make more at boyd than 500.00 and that is using 2500 miles. My gut is saying boyd brothers thanks

One thing you always have to remember...

Percentage is free empty miles or very low rate for empty

A mileage rate is paid for all miles you run, but the miles are just an estimate...or average... BUT you get paid loaded or empty.

NEVER take what anyone says as gospel when they give you miles you can expect....

percentage canbe good for the right company but it can be real bad too.

I guess "it depends" probably isnt the answer you are looking for

With %, you have to hope they are telling you the truth about the freight bill.

I get percentage and I get a copy of the freight bills every week. yes, you are deadheading for free, but not really because the loaded pay covers the deadhead to the next load. if you get what I am saying example 800 mile run at .40 cents mile then 200 mile to pick up next load at .40 cents a mile = 1000 miles = $400.00 We have a run that is the same mileage, pays me $450.00 at 25% so thats a little better than .40 cents a mile. the trick is you have to find a company that doesnt haul cheap, doesnt let you sit and doesnt let you deadhead a whole lot.
Think about it, do you think all these carriers are running for free when their trucks are empty? how do you think they can afford to pay their drivers for running empty? it's all included in the freight bill for the load which you will get a piece of..
Dont figure mileage or percentage. figure what you will bring home and how hard you will have to work for it and make your decision based on that. Dont go by what anyone on here ( including me).says
