Comic books? (No, not the kind you give the DOT)

Hopefully going OTR in a few weeks (hrm, I sent in my app to Crete, and haven't heard back. Gonna have to phone that guy and give him a hassle.)

But I can't live without my comics. Once a week I get my fix. Currently, I purchase through a local shop when they come in. Any comic readers out there? How do you get your fix? Wait for that elusive home time? Any way to get mail sent to a particular spot on the road? I heard that you can basically have stuff sent to a general delivery type address at some different truck stops and so forth.

I run flatbed and get home on a pretty much weekly basis. So it's not to hard for me. I do have a subscription at the local shop so that I don't miss anything.

The longest I went was when I was in orientation. I was away from home for about a month. It cost me something like 50 bucks when I got back.

Right now I'm thinking of having my brother or parents (or sister) pick them up. I'm a bit concerned about the shop shutting down and me missing a month's worth of books. Not that I have any trouble with this shop or expect it, but it happened once before. Coincidentally, the one time I decided to skip a week:)

I spend about $100/mo. It's hard to tell as if I'm under $20/week, I'll pick up a trade or two to supplement the take.

just think how many you will be able to buy when you get back home after being gone a month!!! seriously though i have never seen them at a truck stop..if walmart sells them you will be in luck...but most places dont sell comic books anymore for some reason...

I haven't bought from a 7-11 or anything like that in probably 20 years. The reasons you don't see them in most walmarts, truck stops, etc. has to do with the comic book companies and their distribution models. Makes trucking companies seem sane.

Comic Books

"Any way to get mail sent to a particular spot on the road?" Running OTR irregular route even your dispatcher won't know where you'll be more than a day or two in advance. BOL

I was afraid of that, but figured I'd ask in case someone had figured it out :)
