Big Jeep On 44's
Hey Big Jeep,
I noticed in one of your post that you live in Bailey, Just a hop skip and jump from my hometown Evergreen.. Back in ther late 70's and early 80's I spent many a night in Pine Junction enjoy a keg or two... if we wanted to get wild we would race down the hill on 285, that is probaly why they came up with the pray for me i drive 285 bumper stickers.. Have you ever made the red cone pass trip down into montezuma, (285 over the hill into Keystone) if your jeep has 44's on it it might be kind of hard to do. it is one hell of a trail and is sure to grow hair on your balls when you desend off the top. I lived in Evergreen from 69 until 83 and I still have family out there, I just miss the early feeling of winter in the air and the 4 wheeling. Every time I go back it just amazes me as to how much growth has occured, before you know it Bailey is going to be a suberb of Denver... Anyway just wanted to say hi to a fellow Coloradoite so close to my childhood home.. Have a great Christmas, Timberwolf |

I finally got a Jeep, after 30 years of wanting another one.
Last Thanksgiving I got this '99 Sahara. It has Rubicon suspension, and a 2" lift. It came with a set of Goodyear Wrangler 33's, besides these stock Moab's. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2.../Sahara005.jpg My first Jeep I bought when I was 15. It was a '46 Willy's. I completely restored it in 1972. Stupid me, I sold it when I got married in '78. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...d10/pluto2.jpg My dream now is to plan a vacation in Moab, Utah. |

Chrysler must have worked out a deal with GoodYear to rebadge some of their 31 MT/R's for them , Because those tires look just like GoodYear wrangler MT/R's , Which are real good tires to run on the kind of terrain like we have here In Colorado or in Moab . I can't tell from the picture ,But if your going to go off road on the rocks in moab get some rocker guards ,because you may not ever smack the rockers ,but if you do ,and don't have protection ...OUCH , So they can really save the body of the jeep . |
Yes, they are MT/R's.
In the photo are 245x75-16 which are better up here on the snow. The off-road set are also Goodyear MT/R 33's. It also came with a Bikini top. You can see it has the mirrors mounted forward, so I can take the doors off and still use mirrors. No winch, yet. We don't have the tough trails like you have out there. Last time I went off road out west was with my '78 Dodge Powerwagon SBed, back in the '80's. That was an awesome monster set up...with a 360 V8. I did a lot of Hunting up in Shasta and Trinity. Took my horse up into Squaw Valley a lot too. This Sahara isn't going to get put on the real tough class trails, like you do. hehehe :) I'll need some coaxing to go through most of what I end up facing. I'll park and get out and say.. "wow..nice view...well lets go back to town now." http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ahara014-1.jpg |

That would make an excellent tow rig to bring a trail only rig to the trail with ...But as for the trail , well don't worry most jeeps like the one I built had a big winch ,and a few snatch straps to help you out . Those diesl trucks can be made damn fast for a fair price ...I like dodge , but like auatmatics ,and wouldn't touch a heavy duty diesel with a chrysler transmission behind the mill . |

I had 1994 HP 60 under my last Jeep with an upgraded set of knuckles /300m shafts /and hub conversion /35 spline stb shafts to match the inner 35 spline shafts . Next build I will not use a Ball jointed axle ,And will get an older King Pin style axle I figure either a Dana 60 or upsize to a Dana 70 . |
how about my truck?

Well I got stuck tonight. Though I should have knowen better than to drive through a swamp.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=V_j1vkYEXHc Gotta LOVE it ! But consult your Physician before buying a Jeep. A Jeep is not for everyone. Non-Jeep users were twice as likely to experience severe off-road inadequacy. Modified Jeep users suffered no ill effects, however studies revealed a massive deadening of the brain, and increased alcohol consumption, due to wild abandonment of normal sociological awareness, or concern. Those who own a Jeep may experience a number of serious side effects. An off-roader who has one or more of these side effects should consult with a health care professional ( Nurse ) as soon as possible: Serious side effects; Social Anxiety Disorder Brain Tooth feelings of agitation or restlessness increased appetite decreased appetite the inability to use proper English in an online environment aggression toward your Boss, or authority figure wanton disregard for traffic signs often guilty of Road Signicide (12 ga. weapon of choice) Less serious side effects include; (males) increased sexual desirability to single females (females) increased sexual desirability to single females urge to stab your spouse bursting into flames uncontrollable arrogance toward general driving public intestinal gas It is important to let your Nurse know you are using your Jeep regularly. She may advise regular Vet checks and require frequent visits for protein shots, and stamina tests. |
