want to drive with hubby, new to the trucking world

Hi everyone I have a few questions. My husband and I have been thinking on driving trucks for awhile now and we decided were gonna go ahead now. The schoo we picked is Watkins and Shepard. Does anyone have any info they could give us on it. I heard you have to go out solo for the 1st month or 2, is that true? Because we want to start driving together immediatly upon finishing the school. We live in the Seattle area and Walkins has a company in our town of Kent. Any help would be cool. Thank you.

Immediate Teaming

Do an archives search here for Watkins-Shepard, you may also want to search layover.com and roundtable.net. There're other sites as well but I don't know all of them, newbiedriver.com may be another.
A thing to consider while getting the OTR training with a company trainer, go separately with a trainer because you'll learn different things from each trainer, over and above what they're required to teach. And each of you will bring more when you combine your training to team. Plus it's way crowded with three people in a cab. BOL

Watkins and Shepard is a very good company. They deliver to the furniture store my parents own and their drivers all seem happy their. Their training is supposively very top notch. In my dealing with WS over the phone I can tell you that their staff is honest, straightforward, and care for their drivers. Make sure to have a good attitude when you go their because from what their drivers have said they won't put up with jerks and lazy drivers. Good luck.

Thankyou very much. We are contacting them on Monday and talking to a recruitor for all the details and putting a down payment on the school in hopes we can start in Jan. Thanks for the input.

There's Gordon Trucking out of Pacific, Wa

not sure if they have a school- don't work for them.
not sure how the training would compare to watkins-shepard either

but, you probably wouldn't have to go solo at all with them.
