Neither are great companies , But if you want to drive a nice Pete or KW then go to work for werner and earn 26k in your first year as a 48 state/Canada driver ...And around 23.5k as an 11 Western driver...I can't rember USA trucks payscale on a cPM basis ,but I do know it is better than Werners taking 10 YEARS to reachh .35 CPM on the 48 state board .

Good God, just when you think you've seen and heard it all...who in their right mind would pull for those wages?

There is no driver "shortage". Just a lack of chuckleheads willing to live on the job for fast-food money.

Both of those companies are crap, as you would have figured out on your own if you would have bothered to do any research.

If you don't mind pulling a flatbed, try Arrow Trucking out of Tulsa OK. I think they start at 34cpm for newbies. You won't get as many miles, but you will make more for driving less and the work pulling a flatbed is not all that hard.

How many hours of work will you put in a year to make 23.5 k driving for western?

BanditsCousin 12-08-2007 03:54 PM

The same amount of hours you'd spend away from the house doing 48/otr.

Yep the same only at 15 CPM deadhead and usually 21 CPM loaded . compared to 48 at 26/26 ...The 11 western has a "sliding scale" (sacrcasm to be dually noted from use of quotations) where the driver get 21 CPM loaded iftrip is 500 miles or more ...When I was on 11 you got 26 cPM for all trips under 500 miles it's a little different now , but funny thing is on 11 western most trips are 500 miles or more ,and with 2200-2500 miles week and 200-400 DH miles yo only make about 19 CPM average...My old man joked saying his company pays him more to drive his car to and from work under his car plan...Well it was a joke but it was true ....And when I was on 11 western I was often in NY and Gerogia ...Well I guess Atlanta is western Georgia , But I was also seeing Canada...Since when did Canada become part of the 11 western states ?

That'as 21 Cpm loaded....they pay .15 CPM dead head on their regional runs ...I ran 11 western when I started driving for Werner I rember having a couple 3k mile weeks ( very Very Very rare) but with about 400 DH miles and trips all at 500+ I did not even gross 600 . I also Rember taking a load from the Denver terminal to Calgary made a whole $210 .00 for that...them emptied out and was dead headed to Armstron B.C. to pick up at kohler loaded and sent to Ontario Oregon...trip length about 900 miles total DH/Ld'd I made $168.00 fior the run ,and due to Kohler actually cutting the bath tubs as they loaded me and taking about 6 hours , and having a load weighing all of 4k lbs while traveling a very very icy 97 on my way to the border I couldn't be to the receiver until 1600 friday...So they reschedueled for monday , and got to sit at the pilot right in Ontario Oregon right across the street from the cons for sat and sun ...no lay over pay for the 6 dentention at the shipper ,and no pay for the weekend wait , bUt when your making 15/21 it all evens out...Right
