winter driving question
 

Do you guys usually chain up or park it when snowing,and if you chain up do you do tandems only or tandems and trailer or tandems trailer and steer??
BTW is there a link anywhere as far showing easy ways to chain up?

It depends on where you live. The only areas that require chains are on the west coast. If it's bad enough for chains, it's bad enough for me to park my truck for the night.

When it comes to chaining, states have various requirements as to how many and which axles must be chained.

If you are planning on chaining it would be a good idea for you to do a Google search for Chain Laws. Some states require them to be in the vehicle during winter months and others only require you to have them if they might be needed or simply to use them when posted.

While you are at you can do a search on how to chain.

The best time to learn is on a nice warm day.

IMHO though, is if it is bad enough to chain, it is bad enough to park it and let the roads get cleaned up.

To my limited knowledge: Washington State is the only state which inspects for "possession" of chains---failure to have them between Nov.1-April??? is a
$155 fine. Failure to use them when required by law is $500?
You will need 7 chains or roughly 4 sets...depending on the way you like counting them.

Not just West coast states require them--Colorado too as an example.
