Question about trainers?????????
 

Do most companies provide you with a trainer right out of orentation, or do you usually have to wait a week or so? I am ready to start school, and i was wondering what co. have the worst reputation for being slow to get you witha trainer?

Depends on the company and if they have enough trainers.Most times it takes a day or 2 sometimes weeks.Really depends if they have enough trainers.

it also depends on Logistics....where the Trainer is....and operations department. It's OJT (on the job training) and the trainer will have to be "bounced" back to the terminal to pick you up...it's not always easy to find a single load- straight shot back from timbucktoo. And the last trainee might have really wore HIM out, and he might be wanting a day or two at home before taking a new "co-driver" out( I always preferred to call my Trainees
Co-Drivers- in public/ mixed company)

Other factors can also come into play like whether you are a smoker or a non-smoker and whether you are male or female. Getting a female trainer or a non smoking trainer will sometimes take a couple of extra days.

Can also depend on the time of year. Here at the holidays a lot of trainers won't take a student because they plan on being home for a few days with family.

It depends on the company and that is one of the questions that you should ask your recruiter. This past week was my first week of training with a flatbed company. I finished orientation on Nov. 28 and began training the following Monday Dec. 3

You should definitely ask that question before getting started. I think that it really comes down to if they have any available trainers that are at your terminal.
