The "OFF-SET BACK"

OK.... here it is.... the BIG hint...... Find the half-way point on the lower bar that runs bewteen the two dolly legs. Put a strip of tape ( white, yellow, ect...) or a shot of spray paint. Make the "mark" two or three inches wide so you can see it.

For the purpose of this post ALL points are from the drivers seat.

You pull out of the left lane to go back in the lane on your right:

Pull up straight til the back of the trailer is appox. one T/T length past the land entrance. ( I'll look up the exact distance and get back to you. )

Turn the wheel ALL the way to the left. Start backing up til you see the paint/tape in your right mirror. STOP! Turn the wheel ALL the way to the right. Back up until the tractor and trailer are straight. What you have now is an appox. 20 degree dock. Now start your back trying to place the trailer tires on the driver side as close to the cone as you can. As the rear trailer tire gets to the cone jack it around and follow the trailer in. This is the part that will take pratice on your part.

Please keep in mind that these are just tips for getting you started. Each T/T combo will be a little different due to the setting on the 5th wheel and where the tandums on the trailer are set and how the tractor turns.
