out of work since september

I been out of work since september and may be out of work through cdl school (January) and maybe 1 or 2 months til I turn 21. So it will probably be like Apr or May. So I just want to know if that would affect me getting hired.

Out of work should not hurt you, what may hurt you is your age. A lot of companies won't hire until 23 due to insurance costs.

There are two other potential areas of hurt.

1. Is what school you go to. Many companies want to see a min of a 160 hour course.

2. The amount of time that lapses between completing CDL school and taking that first job. While every company has its own requirements on this, anything after 30 days and job oppurtunities will start to fall off and at 21 years old you are not going to have that many to start with.

Why not just go to Schneider and get the school for free in exchange for a 1 year comittment? They'll take you at 21.

Eric this is your best option. Hit the road and stay gone until you are 24 years old. Live in the truck, dont get a girlfriend or wife and concentrate on trucking and making money. I wish I was 20 and could do it all over again.   Poor me. Lucky you!!!

ERIC- I'm not saying dont screw what you can, but cover that lizard and dont fall in LOVE. Make your money early and you can have even more FUN and money when you are over 30 and getting it from cuties and MILFs 18-38 single and ready and willing. THINK about it.

Hey Buddy, your young don't get in to trucking at your age. Get a trade or better. Trucking (OTR) is for Societies rejects that cant get anything better, like me. Lots of people talk about making a normal salary based on a yearly income, but the hours of work are not mention.

I'm having to take some VERY deep breaths right now, lest I get booted off the board. Not only what you said was an insult to me, but you just insulted so many people that I have a high regard for and that are some of the best people that I have come to know. You now rank with the lowest of the low.

I do have to agree with you on the part that you are one of societies rejects. It's this attitude that keeps you under that rock with a few other low-lifes that only want to suck a few more down that black hole in which you live.

The fact that you insulted me is one thing. I can live with that. The fact that you insulted my friends is another. There are good, honest, hard-working folks that have made a good life for themselves and their families in this industry. If you are so put-out by it then do ALL of us a big favor and GET OUT. By doing so the industry standard will rise a lot.

I'm leaving your post up so everyone can see what NOT to be in life. Even the guys that want to polish your wheels at the TS take pride in the service that they provide. They work hard and take pride in their work. That is way more than I can say for you.

Ending now before I really get off the "deep-end".

Ridge,

+1

Thank you for saying it and keeping me from getting kicked off the forum. I do not understand why people who obviously hate there job, don't find something else to do.
