So what happens if......

So tell me this if you know, it just popped in my head and now i am curious about how it would work...... If you are trying to get hired onto your first company or whatever but in the process you get a major violation(reckless, dui) or have an accident or something but you go through the application and background process and get hired on before the stuff hits your record....what happens then? How long will it be before the company finds if they have already run their checks on you before they show up? Sometimes that stuff can take time to appear on your MVR or background check depending on where you live....What happens in this case?

Once the company finds out....you are out.
They get updated MV reports on a monthly basis.

and if you are going to their school, you might just end up owing them lots of money. Leaving information out, is considered the same as telling a lie

I saw a guy asked to leave in the middle of day 2 of oreintation, cuz he "forgot" to tell them about something. He had to find his own way home at that time too.
Be up front with thim and tell them everything

I heard in the state of Ohio, it is only required that you provide the previous 3 years driving record. And thats ALL the State of Ohio BMV reports. Now I'm not too sure on the D.A.C. or other states??

That is probably only for insurance companies. But typically your certified driving record, that same used by the trucking companies when they hire you, will go as far as 7-10 years.

The companies I have looked at so far, Schneider and CFI, were looking for a clean driving record going back three years. I am going to pull my MVR this week, though, before I do the phone interview w/ Schneider, to see if there's anything that I might have forgotten about.

When I was a teenager, I was a pretty reckless driver (several speeding tickets), but that was a long time ago, more than eight or nine years, I would say. I think that the MVR only keeps records for six years back.

I did get one speeding ticket recently (speed trap, thanks very much, Snellville), but I don't remember how far over I was going, so that's why I'm going to pull the MVR so I can know for sure. I don't think it was more than about 15 mph over. (The trap was on a road where everyone typically goes 50-55mph, but the posted speed limit is an unfair and stupid 35. I think they did that deliberately. Oh well, now I know.) :(

Getting married has been good for me...I'm a MUCH more careful driver now, and that might pay off soon if I can get behind the wheel of a rig.

State of Indiana records go back 10 years. And 15 mph over the speed limit is considered a major moving violation in the trucking world.

Great. :( (sigh) Well, we'll see. I'll pull the MVR to check this week. Wish me luck. :(
