Leery of,,,,,,

I'd like to put in an online application thru CAD. Just how secure is the website? I feel VERY leery about giving out my SS# and CDL# like this. I'd give it to a company I'd consider, over the phone or in person, but over the internet? Is there a way around this? :?:

Whenever you give any info out on the web, make sure for one, its a secure site, there will be a little lock that shows either in the box that the websites address is in, or on the bottom right corner of the browser. Secondly, make sure its a site you want to have your info, as far as thru CAD, I am not saying its not safe, but I would go directly to the companies site and apply. Also, weather applying for a job, or buying goods online, is actually safer than in person or on the phone, as everything you put in is encrypted, and no eyeballs see it except those authorized to.

Never ever put that kind of information. unless you don't care who uses your info ... with a SSI# and CDL # anyone can be driving using your name in less then a day!!!

Is there a way around this? Question
Call the 1-800 numbers for each company you are interested in.

I have submitted applications through CAD several times without any problems.

I know CAD tries to keep everything secure .... but shortly after I put my license number in to a few places ...... someone stole my license number and using it as theirs  .... some man is using my number and writing hot checks .... so there's places now that won't take my checks even thou they know me  ...

So once you've given the number out .... it's up to the people at the other end of the line to keep it secure. Sad that's just the way life is going now days. .... it's all a gamble

But you don't know where the breech of security occurred.

There are many people out there too that spoof themselves to look like another company or site, and they put up their own site that look IDENTICAL to the real one, tricking you to put your information in on it, but it goes to the tricker, not the real site. So you just have to be careful.

Only use checks for paying bills, checks are one of the easiest ways to defraud people.

Especially the places that make you put your DL# on the check...

Personally..... I would never do an application over the web. I don't care how "secure" they or anyone thinks the site is...... All it takes is one hacker to get the information and you will be a victim of "Identity Theft".

Write down the 800 #'s for the companies you are interested in. Call them.

Me, I prefer no-one knows jack squat.... 8)
