Anyone heard of an "F" endorsement?

Just out of curiousity has anyone heard of an "F" endorsement for CDL? I know what it's 'supposed' to be for, but the DMV is telling me there is no such endorsement for a Class A license.

In Ohio there is no F endorsement. There is a F in the license type which just means it's a duplicate license.

i know in PA there aint one

F endorsement in TN stands for "for hire" and is only issued on a class d license (personal vehicle license) They take it off of the CDL because you are already for hire as a commercial driver. I had the F endorsement on my license before obtaining a CDL and it really isn't worth anything. Just a written test and road test in you personal vehicle and it was yours

F on a cdl in some states is for FARM endorsement.......

in west virginia it is for motorcycle endorsement.....

To qualify for the "F" endorsement, a person must meet all of the following conditions:

1. The vehicle is controlled and operated by a farmer. Under the law, "farmer" also includes employees or family members of the farmer.
2. The vehicle is used to transport agricultural products, farm machinery, farm supplies, or a combination of these items to or from a farm.
3. The vehicle is not used as a contract motor carrier (i.e., for hire).
4. The vehicle is operated within 150 miles of the farm.
5. The vehicle being operated is a combination vehicle with a power unit having a GVWR over 26,000 pounds towing a trailer of any size.

Where did you find that listing? Its not what I thought, but would be a very creative interpretation if it holds true here.

If a person's main job is to drive or transport people in a Class D vehicle, a For Hire endorsement must be added to the Class D license. This endorsement replaces what formerly was called a "chauffeur" or "special chauffeur" license. The Class D license with a For Hire endorsement (Class D-F) serves as a bridge between the regular driver license required for private transportation and the commercial license required for tractor-trailers, large trucks, buses and the like. At the current time a For Hire endorsement is not available on a Certificate for Driving. Examples of people whose job requires them to have a Class D-F license include:

Taxi, shuttle service drivers
Couriers, delivery services (flowers, pizza, etc.)
Ambulance drivers
People hired for some purpose other than driving who drive in the course of doing their job, generally do not need this endorsement. They have at least two years of unrestricted driving experience prior to the date of application.
They are at least eighteen years old,
No challenge exists concerning their good character, competency and fitness to be so employed, and
They will be operating a Class D vehicle.
TESTS REQUIRED - Applicants must pass the standard vision test, and a knowledge test designed specifically for the For-Hire Endorsement. To prepare for the knowledge test, you should carefully study this entire driver handbook. Applicants who have a valid Class D license will not be required to take a road test.

Apparently the only license that you will get that is the same in every state is a CDL because it is overseen by the Feds. As for all other classes of licenses if you want to know what an endorsement is or stands for, you're going to have to go to your states website to find out.
