Private Carrier Question

Hello All,
This seems to be a great, informative forum. As a newbie to trucking, I have a case-specific question for the masses. I was wondering what was entailed to run a commercial private carrier. I train horses for a living and run a large trailer all over the country. Having worn out several duallies and a medium duty Pete, I've been considering purchasing a big truck and going commercial. I have my CDL permit, and plan on taking the test this fall. I was wondering what kind of taxes, insurance, DOT regulations, etc. would be required of a private carrier so that I can factor it into my decision. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

You can go to the Federal website and find all your answers. www.fmcsa.gov. All the rules and regulations are there which will tell you everything you need to know. Good luck.

GMAN,
Thank you! I appreciate that you took the time to answer a question that could have easily been discovered on my own, I should have been a little more resourceful. Thanks again.
