idleing ticket
 

Well what a day i had i went to brooklyn ny today on 9/11 R.I.P. it was a nightmare i was stuck on 440 for 2 1/2hrs. So anyway i go to jersey after that for my next load. I stop at a store to get a quick bite to eat off of rt22. I went in got a BLT and a soda came back out to see a local township cop sitting behind my rig with its lights on. SO i walk up to him and then he starts. To make a long story short i got 2 tickets one for idleing the truck for more then 3mins Court appearance is required. the other one is leaveing the truck running and unlocked with me not being there that one is 54.00. Does anyone know how much the idleing one might be. It didnt have the price on it cuz i have to go to court. BTW you long haul guys i live about 3 1/2 hrs away from where this happen do i have to go to court can i call or something. What would happen if i was from texas i wouldnt go all a way back to jersey for a ticket. More reasons why i hate jersey.

BTW when the cop was writing me these tickets which took about 20mins am going to tell the judge he was idleing the whole time.

If it says that court appearance in mandatory, then you will need to be in court. If you don't show up a bench warrant for your arrest could be issued. The anti-idling laws are only for big trucks. I suppose cars and motorcycles don't pollute. :roll:

I was in Jersey the other week and there were signs in the parking lot of the quickie mart I stopped at that idling was against the law and will get you a hefty fine.

thanks for the advice GMAN like always. This sucks now am going to have to take a day off from work all becuase i idle my truck for 10mins to go get some lunch. Well looked like i worked today for nothing and am going to lose another day. Anybody have a ball park of what it could be cost wise??

Since hardly anyone lives in a car or on a motorcycle, they tend to idle less, be it winter or summer. :wink:

Best advice is for ANYONE going to New York. Stop at Walmart and by a Parakeet or some cheap bird..... YOU CAN IDLE ALL YOU WANT IN NEW YORK AND THEY CANNOT GIVE YOU A TICKET!!!!

Is that for specifially a bird, or any pet in the truck?

IN NY and NJ among other states, emergency, public transportation vehicles, and trucks that must idle their engines in order to load/unload their cargo are exempt from the idling laws. All other cars, trucks and motorcycles are limited to how much they may idle, which for the most part is practically none.

Hey Mackman, in the little bit of time i've been back on this site, i've noticed it seems like things have gone from bad to worse for you. Hopefully your luck doesn't continue this way for too long, i pull a bulk tank as well down here in florida, although it's not an everyday thing, my company just uses it for one customer, but the days i've got to pull it, i'm not too thrilled, noisy as all hell, and likes to plug up, not too mention if you don't keep an eye on it, it'll be too late to notice you blew the top off the silo :? Anyway, good luck with it, it's nice to be doing something different though, i take a little pride in knowing that not only am i professional driver, but also a skilled "pneumatic" operator, hopefully i spelled that right.
