What are PC Miler miles...?

I can't get too much clarity on this :? . If a company pays miles per "PC Miler" how does that break down...closer to HHG...practical...or hub?

they are miles based on the computer program PC Miler. They are practical miles

but if you ask for the miles from your FM.....make sure you know if the company uses the practical miles or the shorter miles.

Most companies used to pay according to the Household Movers Guide which screwed us all. With PC Miler you get a bit closer to the miles you actually run and every once in a while you may even beat it if you're creative enough with your routing.

PC Miler can actually mean many things. All it really means is that they are using the PC Miler program which can provide miles by HHG, Truck shortest, and Truck Practical.

A lot of people like to think that all the PC Miler program is able to kick out is truck practical miles and routing, but the full version of the program is a lot more detailed than that.

It has been my experience that companies that say they pay by PC Miler, Rand Mcnalley Miles, etc often actually pay something close to truck shortest. Better than HHG but not as good as truck practical.

So how do you get that info from the company? I had asked on behalf of my SO and the response was that they paid according to PC Miler... she went on to say that the company audited for accuracy on a consistent basis and I understood her to say that it was closest to practical. Unfortunately, I'm not quite certain of that right now!

That right there says to me they are not paying practical routed miles, and are most likely paying truck shortest.

Truth is that whoever you talked to may not know which "version" of PC Miler the company is using and it is hard to say who knows for certain which one is being used.

Okay, so are truck shortest the same as HHG? Don't they have to disclose how they're paying miles? Per your statement that they (recruiter) may not know, how the heck is a prospective driver supposed to find out? This is a fairly small (appx 150 trucks) company - West coast - that appears to have a pretty good pay & benefits pkg. I've put out a post on them but have received NO responses!

No truck shortest is not HHG. Truck shortest is the shortest route a truck can legally take. It may not be the most practical though. HHG is the shortest route regardless if it is truck legal or not. See the difference.

And no they really do not have to disclose how they are computing miles.

Hey U-turn..

So what is Prophesy routing system based on? When I get routed I am told my Empty miles to the location my trip miles and then the total miles. I've found that when I go their way which I always do, I'm off by a few miles. Meaning I've driven 20+ miles or more then what I was routed at times.
I always thought we were paid practicle but I don't know now.

Thanks,

pb
