non CDL straight truck to CDL

A little help. I have been driving a straight truck (26,000 lb GVR) for 8 1/2 years with airbrakes. I had my class b permit, but i let it expire before I could take the final road test. Any atvantage to having a CDL b with airbrake endorsement for "big boy" school?
Any recomended schools in the richmond virginia area?

Why don't you just get the Class A? It will be of much greater value to you.

I think he's asking if having the class-b will help in class-a school.

If that's the case, and you go to a quality school, then the answer is no - the only beneifts you'll have it getting used to driving 5ft higher up, air lag, and maybe shifting if you were using a nine-speed. Handling the trailer is 90% of class-a work and you've not done that yet.
