Local guys, do you have this problem?
I was thinking that since I'd be working locally with an older age crowd that things would be different than it is within my own circle of friends. I'm the youngest at my company by 20 years and I can't believe how much drama there is at work. Somebody is always fighting, the day guys hate the night guys and vice versa. People bitching about how they got a bad run and another got a good run or what truck your assigned to... Theres more drama with this group of 40-60 year olds than there is with my friends in their 20's! Seniority rules all for the most part but the boss's play favorites big time!
Is this just how it is with my company or are most all local outfits the same? |
This is how you'll be in twenty or thirty years.. LOL. I have to listen to all that BS everyday. I just kind of tone it all out and filter the noise for things that may be important. When these guys are complaining about what a person does when they are not around.. why even worry about it? These guys work separate shifts, one driver is off while the other driver is driving. It's not like there is much to get excited about.

Truckdrivers, I have found are the biggest bunch of babies you'll ever meet. For job that they supposedly love, they will bend your ear for hours telling you how much they hate it.
The DOT should require that all drivers carry pacifiers and rattlers. |
Yep. Drama here. There's one guy who gets hated because he had the good luck of getting LESS work than the other guys. He wants less work, and makes less moneyt, but has more time to himself. So the other dirivers bitch aboiut him behind his back, to the boss. I hear them telling the boss to dispatch the guy to do more work.
If the drivers want to work less, they should ask to work less, if they are so envious of this guy. |

we are a cobination of local. linehaul and regional and you want to talk about bitching? Us flatbedders gripe about the door slammers taking 2 spaces when dropping a trailer, they gripe about us getting more miles and we all complain the local guys are milking it.....go figure...a bitching driver is really a happy driver

It just is not truck drivers. Every industry I have worked in there were groups of people who spent more time whining than working.

LMOA! I'm 44yo and I've never worked anywhere in any industry where bitchin isn't a part of daily routine! The guys I work with have a good job and you'd think they were treated like slaves or prisoners if you asked them! If you're happy just ignore em. Happiness is a choice, be happy or be pissed off all the time. It's up to you. Is it really fate? ...Or maybe your attitude? ...do you like being around these people? ...if you are like that do you think people really want to be around you?
