PLEASE, "resize" the photo of your truck in your signature or delete it. It causes most, if not all of us, to have to scroll side to side in order to read the TEXT in everyone's posts. There is no good reason for this. We've seen your truck.... it's nice. Didn't you once have a picture of a big green dump truck in your signature? Didn't I ask you nicely to resize it? If that wasn't YOU, I apologize for bringing it up. Either way... I'd LIKE to read the threads that you start or post on, but it is way too much work. If you're not sure how to do it.... I'm sure someone here can tell you. It's not that hard to do. I most SINCERELY appreciate your cooperation on this. Hobo |

8) Most towns have bottom dump jobs ( dirt haullers) good way to get started and be local.

Here. Please accept and make use of this gift of a dramatically less obnoxious version of the picture: http://home.comcast.net/~documentarian/smaller.jpg |

I went local right out of truck driving school. Those that say you can't do it are full of BS.
It does require more effort however. You can't just apply to local jobs like you can OTR. Local jobs are in higher demand than OTR and the turnover rate is much much lower. I suggest filling out some apps to some local companies, and then CALLING THEM. Get an interview. Do good in the interview. A lot of drivers probably have the same amount of experience applying, and the same kind of records. They can pick and choose who to hire going beyond just the application. So the interview is key! You can also cold call some places and ask to speak to the transportation manager, and talk to him directly. Basically it comes down to you having to agressively seek these jobs, they won't come to you. It can be done, but it will require some work on your part. |
