CDL question
 

Hi all Got a question for ya. I live in NY plan on going to Centraltech will I be getting a permit from OK.Or do I need to come back to NY to get my Permit.Also After school do I need to go to NY to take my road test or can I get everything done at school.

More than likely what will happen is when you get to Oklahoma they willl take you down to the DMV and you will exchange you NY DL for an OK DL. Then when it is time you will get an OK CDL learners permit and then road test and get an OK CDL. When you get back to NY you will then exchange that for a NY CDL.

It would be best to call Central Tech and ask them to be certain though.

Don't you need proof that you live in a certain state.Not sure how cdl work but in NY you need to show proof that you live in NY before you can transfer over.

I earned my CDL in Louisiana, the school used the school address for the permit. Florida accepted the school as a third party examiner therefore all licensing paperwork was given to me and had to remain in a sealed envelope when I got my Florida CDL. As a previous poster stated, your initial CDL may be Oklahome, just tranfer it to a New York CDL when you return from training. Don't sweat it, you'll have bigger fish to fry. BOL

bouncer I live a few miles from Central Tech in Okla.. that's also the school I went through to get my refresher. All the students in class from another state recieved their permit from Oklahoma. Call the front desk at the office and ask them your question and they'll put your mind to rest on the questions. Their a great group of people who work there and are more than glad to give you the info you want. The teachers there are awesome. :wink:
