HELP! Which company for school/work
 

My husband can't get into a private school so we are left with no other alternative than to go with a company school.


Who should he go with for best runs/pay/benefits/etc?

I've heard from a few recruiters that a newbie can average $600-900 once they are on their own...Is that true?

With what many companies are paying now to start if a newbie can not bring home at least $600 a week there is something very very wrong.

Now I know the prime haters will come crawling out but after talking to several companies. They all have their ups and downs. I Have talked to schneider, prime, swift, roehl, driver solutions. Let me say that all have ups and downs.

From what I can see and have heard from recruiters, I feel prime has the best training for newbs if you want company paid training. This is obviously from comparing all the companies i have talked to. USA Truck doesnt sound bad If you deal with someone at the Arkansas HQ(hq sounds much better than drivers solutions). I filled out an app at roehl and I got a call when I was out and I came back and returned their call and left 2 messages the past 2 days and no call backs.

A friend of mine recommended I apply at prime and be an O/O when I get done training. I tried CFI but havent gotten a response from them so I cant comment on experiences with them.

I would say try these companies in the following order:

1. Prime
2. Roehl
3. USA Truck
4. Swift
5. Schneider
6. Driver Solutions

They all have their ups and downs just make sure you read everything before you sign anything.

Companies to avoid if at all possible:

USA Truck(terrible pay and junk equipment)
CR England
PAM(terrible pay and bad reputation)
Prime(Only because their "training" is 4-5 months long. All that time is running with a trainer as a team. No thanks.)
FFE(not a great company, but you'll get miles)

Schneider
Roehl
Interstate Distributors
Gordon
Central Refrigerated

Unfortunately, CFI and Maverick don't hire in the S. California area. Do plenty of research. The companies I mentioned above are good starter companies, but not really companies most people stay at for more than a couple of years. Get a year in and your options will get much better. Good luck.

Uh, no. They have company training. They will send you to school in New Mexico for four weeks. It's not advertised much. You have to call and ask about it.

Is Central Refrigerated owned by Swift?
It is becoming difficult finding a good company that offers both the school and reasonable employment in San Antonio. Seems I am in the "no man's land" between Houston, Dallas and Laredo.
