What should I expect for orientation and my first month out?

I'm going to start with Roehl. Everyone is saying how wonderful they are, but I'm being a typical newbie and am nervous about everything! I've heard all of the horror stories about companies not getting you back home when they say they will and I know it all depends on the situation, but do they generally do a good job getting you home? Also, I saw the list of "what to bring to orientation" but what do I REALLY need to bring with me?

are you going to their cdl school?? if so, bring as little as possible until u are assigned a tractor than go home and get it filled up. Less weight for you to move from your hotel room to your trainers truck than back out again when you "graduate"

Bring a pillow, sleeping bag enough clothes for 10 days. You should buy a clipboard, pens, laundry bag, a white out pen, all your toiltries. They will more likely dispatch you home after your training period. BOL

go to your state unemployment office

and ask them what schools they will approve fed funding under the

wia program

if the feds will pay for the school

it must be reputable

I work for Roehl, they've gotten me home on time every time. There's at least one poster on this board who complains that they never got him home on time, I can only guess that his dispatcher either disliked him or didn't know what he was doing.

hometime

I am with Roehl. I find that I am home usually on the day I requested. There are some weeks that freight just isn't moving in the home direction and so I find that it might be a day later but some weeks I have been home a day earlier. It all balances out.
