I was a bit of a stoner back then, and whenever I hear that song, I always go back to Cheech and Chong's first flick, (and, IMHO, their best one as well!!) "Up In Smoke"

Gotta love it! It was in Gone in 60 Secondstoo, but Up in Smoke is still one of my favorite movies!

i have a spread & the dump valve on it is connected tothe front axle on trailer. it came this way when i bought it. what purpose does this serve being on front axle ?

GMAN 08-11-2007 02:21 PM

It serves the same purpose on the front as the rear, heavyhaulerss. It takes pressure off of the other axle. I wanted to put the dump valve on the rear axle, but the people who put the dump valve on my side kit told me it would be best to dump the front axle. Perhaps it distributes the weight better. You will need to have more room for turns by dumping the front axle since the trailer will pivot on the axle which has pressure on the ground. Dumping the rear axle allows for shorter turning radius. I have seen them on front and rear axles. There are a few who have two dump valves, one for each axle.

So how come Maverick doesn't have dump valves on their trailers?

heavyhaulerss 08-11-2007 05:24 PM

well i hardley ever nned to do tight turns. so i guess mine is better on front axle. it seems to me that having it on the back allows to swing trailer around easier, but having on front would save wear on the tires as the back kinda roll along, while the front seems to slide & skip along sideways.

Dunno, you would think they would.

i have heard of people saying that if dump valve is left on too long it can break off lug nuts off wheel on tight turns with heavy weight. dont know how true this is, but drivers had told me this can happen. maybe maverick dont want to depend on a rookie driver to remember to turn off dump when he needs to.
