need help in san diego cali...
 

I am a proud parent of twin girls that is trying to get into trucking to improve my finances to better the quality of life for my kids... I already have a class b with hazmat/tank... but am going to get class a....my question is can i get hired on for LOCAL runs only fresh out of driver school or am i going to have to put in my otr dues for a year or so first??? sorry if it is an old question but i am new to the board and didnt see any posts specifically targeting the san diego cali area... any info/advice would be GREATLY appreciated... THANKS MUCH !!!

There are many local companies that hire student grads. I suggest you look in your local paper or start calling the local companies and inquiring.

Living in or near a major city will give you the best chance of finding a local job out of school.

Try checking at www.caljobs.ca.gov in the "Transportation and material moving" section. Don't sweat the 'registering" to access the site, that's just so EDD can justify the use of the site to the state and continue getting funding (your tax dollars at work). BOL

If you are willing to work the dock for 4-5 months you can earn a CDL no strings and have a good LTL job waiting for you.

thanks ian... i tried to send a private message but was disallowed(under 50 posts) YES i am willing to work the docks.. take out trash... clean the bathrooms.. etc... I dont expect to start at the top... I have always had a STRONG work ethic... where do you recommend I look or who do I contact??? thanks for the help!!!
