I want to get my cdl and drive a rockbucket do i need exp.

Ive looked at prime, swift, schneider, england, maverick. Then i thought of just driving a tanker because i weigh trucks in and out everyday. Highway trans makes good money. Theres so many options buying a truck o/o company driving. Ive even thought about getting some experience and buying a truck after a few years and going to work for Bruce Oakley. Now im thinking of driving a rock bucket and getting contracted on with the state of texas. What do you think?

You will just need to get authority and insurance. Without experience, insurance is usually rather expensive. If you are only going to run intrastate it may not be much of a problem. I suggest checking with the TXDOT and ask them what you will need. You may also want to check with whom ever you need to talk with the state who issues contracts to make sure they don't have any special requirements. There always seem to be people looking for rock haulers in Texas. 8)

Where in TX to you want to haul from? Their are several companies looking for rock haulers in the DFW area. However, the pay is rather small.

If you are thinking about tanker, try Shale Tank Trucks. They sometimes hire new drivers. When I worked for them, they hired a woman, and trained her for her CDL. Of course, she wrecked the truck about 2 months later, and got fired. But they still hired her, and gave her a chance.

Look for their office number in Aledo and in Ponder.

Good luck.

Yeah, you get around north of Ft Worth, Bridgeport, Decatur...shoot, there are more rock buckets than you can shake a stick at.
