Blind Load
:P At risk of being busted back to Rookie....whatz the dope on a Blind Load?
I've hauled a few...but never clearly understood what it is all about? |
This usually is where the company selling a product to their customer does not want them to know where the product came from.
Company A sells a product to Company B. But Company A buys the products from Company C and does not want Company B to know that Company C is actually the one supplying the product. So they will give you a bill of lading that shows that the product was picked up at a differtent company and town in most cases. I will not haul the load till they give me an actual BOL because if you are stopped and the only bill you have shows that it was picked up in say Chicago going to Jersey and you actually p/u in California it will not match your log book. Now most DOT guys understand what is going on ,but some don't and it is a real hassle and will tie you up and require a bunch of phone calls. |
In other words it's 3rd party loads.
Within our own Company...one of our Driver's may bring a load in from California...(2400 miles) and really wants a couple days off, and I have transferred his load to my trailer, and continued on to it's East Coast destination. In a way...that wouldn't be considered a Blind Load. It's only when it becomes a 3rd party load. But either way...the scenario your saying may require some explaining. Maybe...m-a-y-b-e in a Level 1 Inspection...I may have to connect the dots...but in my experience so far, DOT doesn't look that close. They may ask.."What are you hauling" and that usually is it. In my Log Report, I indicate when I receive the load and where. I list the BOL numerics and so...I should be square and legal. Blind Load just sounds hinky. |
We prefer "Sight Impaired" load.

:? uhh, i thought it was like the load of "toilet paper" i picked up at a nuclear energy plant in the midwest. manifest said placard exempt, govt. was 6 pallets of toilet paper. weighed 40,000. delivered to air force base in new mexico. was paid for hazmat, but never saw the load. was preloaded and dropped. no placards! i thought that was a blind load.

Its like a load your friends set you up with thinking you'll like it. Kinda like a blind date?
Just kidding  This post has no value  |
