trucking with a past felony
 

I'm just finishing up my cdl driving school and am looking for an employer to get training with. I live in Maine. I have a felony conviction 8 years old now, did no time. It was for threatening someone who did something terrible to my wife. Stupid thing to do. Left a message on his answering machine that if I got a hold of him, he's have to collect social security early. I was given probation. Not one day in jail. Released ror even when I was arrested.

Now I'm finding myself in a bind. I need to find a company that doesn't go into Canada. I'm going to call Canada tomorrow to find out if I can get a pardon if they do that kind of thing. But if I can't get one, I need to find a company that doesn't do Canada and it's felony rules are 8 years.

Any help or advice appreciated.

It's called a Minister's Permit and you need to contact the Canadian Consulate to apply for one. There is one in Detroit that I know of.

Getting the permit is time-intensive and according to some drivers, expensive.

My question would be, why did you get a felony for that? Sounds like it should have been a misdemeanor.

I kinda figured it was along those lines, but it raises several questions. Why was the guy not in jail and why did you get a felony with no jail-time for calling him? It would have had to have been a pretty severe phone message to get nailed for making terroristic threats, which is what I am thinking might have been the charge.

you are correct verbal threat was the charge ..he had a high price lawyer to get him off . all i said was that i'm going to kick his #@$%% and when i'm done the only thing that he'll be good for is collecting Social Security . i mean the only thing that i did was sticking up for my wife .. i know most husbands would has put him into the hospital for life.. ty all
