Sta-Rat or Tandem Stoppers - ever tried them?

Has anyone ever tried either one of these tandem tools? Been thinking about investing in one or both.

There's nothing I hate more (ok, maybe just a few things) than STUBBORN tandems.

I made something similar to the Tandem Stopper. The advantage mine had over the Tandem Stopper is mine fit two different size holes. They did make it easier to find the right hole.

If I had to make this again I'd use steel pipe instead of using solid rod. Just put an end cap on the pipe and your done.

Another thing I found useful was a bar across the last hole of the frame. I found several trailer where the frame didn't stop the tandems from coming out of the end of the track. That will really ruin your day.

I've used a simple tandem pin puller (a basic fulcrum and hook) but most of the other things are a simple waste of time and money IMHO. I usually didn't use any pin pullers, with a little patience and know how, this is relatively easy. You see where the pin is, you count the holes where you want the pin to end up, mark them with something (usually there is enough grime to just mark it with your finger) pull the pins, slide till you are close, release the pins, pull either forward or back and they lock in the holes where you want them to be. Reweigh the truck and your off to the races...
