Passed a Scale

The other day I was crossing from Idaho into Washington on the I90 and accidently missed the weight station exit. I pulled over as soon as i saw the station. I was not sure what to do, i thought that they where come after me right away but they didnt. I sat there for like ten minutes but then just left. What is the best thing to do if this happens again?

Just do what you did-wait a few and go
That way they can't say you intentionally avoided the scale

It would have been even better to have walked back to the scale house with your log book and paperwork and explained what happened and ask them what they want you to do.

Are you sure it wasn't TODAY? ( I saw you) I wondered what you did. 8)

I think the scalehouses only "expect" to get a sampling of the trucks on the road. Most times, they don't know whether you came in, or not.

Last time I 'missed' a scale, I got off at the next exit, reversed my direction for about 7 miles, and approached the scales for the second time. The sign then said, CLOSED. Was I the idiot I felt like? I don't think so.

I drove by with a clear conscinece. They could come after me if they wanted, but they didn't..... EITHER time.

My advice is.... if you "accidentally" blow by a scale.... keep on truckin'!

But, at least hit the brakes as you go by! That way, they know you thought about it! :D

I missed the one on the KS pike once.. I pulled over and walked all the paperwork back o the shed... they really didn't seem to really care, but I sure was a tad panicked for a few moments.

I was inside a scale house on I 40 out side of Ashville, NC, being DOT once and a trucker passed the scale entrance and he stopped along the road and walked in. They said to him then thanks for all we will do since you stopped was give a warning, no big deal. but if you went on and we caught you, would been a 75.00 fine, plus return to the scale.

my wife was driving and got the dreaded RED lite :dung: so she pulled in to the scale on I-10 in AL. no big deal just rolled thru but as she was on the on-ramp mister DOT man went by us doing more than 70mph "dam bubble-gum machine dond hit the jackpot"...

about 2ml up the road he had a USA truck pulled over that had blew by the scale.

I've done this before,I just walked up to the scale with all my paperwork that showed I was unloaded and the officer says that "only" the empty guys forget to stop.We both laughed and I was on my way.

I did accidently miss the knoxville scales on I-40/I-75 southbound,I was not quite legal on logbook so I "hurried" up and got to the split and made my way on 75,never heard or seen anyone, but I think it would be best to walk back and just explain what happened.

I missed a scale outside Washington DC on the 495. The road exits to the left for the scale. Couldnt stop and walk back so I stopped at the next scale house even though I had a green light on the PrePass. Cleared my consicence.
