Back in action

Well i finally got the call i was waiting on this afternoon, as you know i said the heck with hauling sod on monday morning and decided i had to get out of there while i could, so this monday morning i'll be starting my next new adventure. I'll be working for a company hauling bulk potting soil for nursery's and what not in the state of florida, best part of it all is that i don't have to be to work until 7 am, beats the hell out of 3, and i'll be off by 4 in the afternoon, plus no weekends, needless to say i'm definately looking forward to it. And the extra kicker on this deal is i'll be in a sweet peterbilt 379 pulling an all aluminum 48 foot walking floor, i can honestly say i'm excited about driving again.

sounds like on sweet tractor, the walking floor is a nice bonus.

What's a walking floor? That's a new one on me.

Congrats on the job. Mine is 7:00-5:30, plus commute time, so I'm jealous of your widdle piddly hours. :P

a walking floor is a van like trailer where the bottom is what they call a "live bottom", it's got pannels that shift and shuffle which in turn walks the load out of the back of the trailer, probably made absolutely no sense saying that, but that's the best way i know how to explain it.

Don't forget to open the doors :)

One of my co-drivers dropped a loaded walking floor at the shop to get a hydraulic hose replaced. We always leave the valve in reverse and just use the pto. The mechanic didn't know this or that the trailer was loaded, so when he was checking for leaks he engaged the pto, walked midway down the trailer to turn the valve on but it already was on. You probably see this coming but no, it didn't blow the doors off but they were bulged out a good 10 inches.

Congrats on the new gig!
