Finished School Just Passed CDL
 

I just passed my CDL and need some info on large companies versus small. I am looking at either Roehl or H.O. Wolding. I'm thinking of doing van-MW regional or OTR. I know I have just scratched the surface when it comes to driving so a good company training program is very important. Any thoughts? Thanks

Schneider has an excellent company training program.

Since your in Minnesota take a look at Transport America http://www.classadrivers.com/truckin...s.php?Cid=2378 I always heard good about their training. Also look at U.S. Xpress www.xpressdrivers.com. Congratulations on getting your CDL :rock:

Not knocking US Express because I dont work for them. But they are company that has an all automatic or mostly all automatic fleet.

Be careful starting out with a company that runs strictly all automatics. Depending on your state you could a "automatic only" restriction on your CDL.

SNI is going all automatic and I have been resisting the change. They offered me a new automatic truck and the idea of getting a new truck is always tempting, the automatic in the truck wasnt. I'd rather stick with a straight 10 speed.

This guy already has a CDL.. there's no way that he can get a restriction on his license.

P.S. I would have taken the automatic in a second... :lol:

True, unless he moves to a different state has to retest the written part for his CDL. Add to that if his only employment is with a auto-only company, he only can apply at an auto-company or retrain all over again for manuals.

Automatics are for cars. :wink:
