Clutch pedal free play - 2"

I just had my Mack Granite in for the annual safety. Previously the clutch pedal had 3/4" free play. Now it has 2"...a little too much? My initial complaint was that the clutch brake was not engaging and causing grinding when going into gear from a stop. I float shift and clutch shift depending on the load and terrain and my mood.

Ya hoser!

Shift into top gear...eh...before you drop into the lower gear. That will slow the gears down for ya. :)

2" is acceptable. Sounds like the linkage was adjusted as to get the travel to engage the clutch brake.

Huh?????

When stopped and trying to get in gear with the clutch brake not working, it's always easier to ease (grind) it into LOW gear initially, then once you've done this to stop the gears, shift the stick into 2nd or 3rd or whatever gear you're going to start off in.
