McDonalds wifi
I have not read anything here about McDonalds wifi. Forgot name of company providing it, but they support IHOPs, airports, hotel chains, mcdonalds, etc. I read up on them a little, do not understand all the technical :? stuff but sounds like a cool set up to me. Yea I know you are going to think ewwwwww McDonalds. I believe the Grilled chicken sandwiches are very good/Weight Watcher friendly and a salad instead of fries. Must be ok since wife has lost over 100 pounds in a year and we make regular trips due to indoor "R-gym", much cooler version of the playground in the winter months for the twins.

Krystal restaurants have WiFi in some or all of their restaurants. They have about 200 or so stores.

good to know
even I a lowly "wannabe" can guess it ain't an option to whoop the truck into a Dennys or McD's but has anybody tried the services yet?

Actually, you will find in some areas of the country that there are in fact Mickey D's, BK Lounges, and other fast food restaurants as well as motels that actually do have truck parking.
The only other thing I have to add is this: It has been my experience that if you log on to an unsecure and non-wep wi-fi net, it would be best to have some good anti-virus/anti-spyware and firewall software in place. I have logged on to a couple of motel nets and been probed a number of times by hackers and others trying to drop little programs on me. This is not an advertisement for these people, but my Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite has done what appears to be a pretty good job of blocking the nonsense, and I have swept my laptop with other software and not found anything amiss. Caveat Emptor!! Especially when its a "freebie"!! |

I find alot of free internet everywhere I go... I don't do the illegal stuff though, I just pointing it out to them as a security threat to there system.. I find alot of home internet the same, cruise around town and find alot of free intetrnet from unsecure wireless home networks which is what all these places are setting up for its customers, all I see is a open world for hackers and illegal stuff...
If you know anything about networking and find unsecure networks in your town, be a freind and teach them to use a WEP Key to protect there network from uninvited guest from using there system... its the least you can do... if not, surf there web for free and download all your illegals.... |
What's the big thing about an unprotected network? I never WEP mine.. it's my donation. The bigger problem is your computer, is it M$? If so, chances are its already compromised. If you want some security, then use Mac OS X or linux...
