Thanks for the comments. I don't see moving from bus to an 18 wheeler all that hard and the bus is also 45 feet long. I do agree that better skills are needed for an 18 wheeler and I was looking at not having a $3000 to $4000 bill after training or being indebted to a Swift or Schneider.

You better make sure that trucking companies will accept you driving a bus as qualification for hiring you. Most companies only accept your experience with driving tractor-trailers.

I hear ads for greydog on the radio. They will train you.

I think an A is needed over a certain weight limit? I could be wrong...

Remember, most trucker go to (and get sent home from) training on the Doggy Bus.

At least on Greyhound he gets paid hourly and if he likes it there then he can have a career instead of going into trucking.

Greyhound... Class "A" ??

I drove a 44 passenger coach in Michigan with a "B" license.

I doubled checked, in California Greyhound walks you through the driving skills and computer lab for training on bus systems (air brakes, pre inspection, following distance, etc) It is a two week school where they
pay(?) $360 bucks, then when you start plugging the board to drive you get a completion bonus of $1000. In Cal over 26,001 lbs requires a class A and covers all equipment. Of course you still need endorsements for tank, HAZMAT, etc. At training they pay room and board. I am not seeing a lot of negatives, but I am having hard time keeping my PB at 120 over 80, so it may be an unfruitful pursuit.
